Preschool at Home!
St. John Lutheran Preschool is happy to offer Preschool at Home. This is an opportunity for parents to give their children a preschool education at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Melissa Haugo, a licensed early childhood education teacher with 12 years preschool teaching experience, will provide families with weekly lesson plans to guide the learning at home. The lesson plans meet the Iowa Early Learning Standards and The Creative Curriculum’s Objectives for Development and Learning.
How does it work?
Parents can choose to receive weekly lesson plans via email or hard copies through regular mail.
Weekly lesson plans will include developmentally appropriate activities based around a particular topic of study. Each activity will be fully explained including tips to help parents guide their children. The school year will consist of twelve units of study. Each unit will last two or three weeks.
Activities will be hands-on and play-based. Video lessons will also be included.
Activity packets will be available for each unit. These can be picked up at St. John Lutheran Church or can be mailed for an additional fee.
Weekly Zoom meetings with Miss Melissa can be scheduled.
How will accountability be held?
Parents will be required to send Miss Melissa photos of finished work or their children engaged in the activities. A calendar to mark off assignments will be included in the activity packet.
