Meet the Staff
The staff at St. John Lutheran Preschool hold certifications in CPR and First Aid, complete Mandatory Reporter of Child Abuse training and Universal Precautions training. In addition, staff members are required to complete at least 10 hours of professional development annually.
Miss Melissa grew up in Fargo, ND. She graduated in 2005 from Minnesota State University Moorhead with a B.S. in Elementary Education and emphasis in Pre-Primary Education. In 2009 she completed a K-8 Reading Endorsement from Buena Vista University. Miss Melissa also is a Certified Lutheran Early Childhood Teacher (CLECT) through Concordia University.
Melissa has had a variety of teaching experiences including several years of substitute teaching, 12 years teaching preschool, and 1 year as a Reading Interventionist.
Outside of preschool Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband Brady, their daughter Summer, golden retriever (Kasey), long-haired dachshund (Lucy), and cat (Charlie). She also enjoys running, rally racing, and being outside as much as possible.
Melissa has a passion for music as well. She plays as a substitute violist in the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony, as well as, other community gigs.
